Avran Fine Art

New Artist Reception with Justin Bower

When: Saturday, February 22nd, 2020

Time: 6:00-9:00 PM

Where: 540 S. Coast Highway, Suite 106, Laguna Beach, CA 92651

You are invited to meet Justin Bower, drink wine, and learn more about our newest artist! Free to attend and open to the public.

Avran Fine Art welcomes a new artist, Justin Bower! Justin Bower paints his subjects as de-stabilized, fractured post-humans in a nexus of interlocking spatial systems. His paintings problematize how we define ourselves in this digital and virtual age while suggesting the impossibility of grasping such a slippery notion.

The ongoing decoding of the human body, a formula to each individual’s genome, confronts us with a radical question of “What are we? Am I a code that can be reduced and multiplied infinitely?”  Bower’s paintings begin to open a dialogue to this destabilizing effect/trauma technology has on the individual that has infected the daily lives of contemporary man. He shows this destabilization through the doubling of features – multiple eyes, spliced noses, melting mouths – and the whiplash motion invoked in his Abstract Expressionist process.

Kush Fine Art Gallery

Captain Drake’s Pipe

Kush Fine Art and the creator of “Metaphorical Realism,” Vladimir Kush is pleased to present his latest release: “Captain Drake’s Pipe,” Giclee on Canvas (Edition 188 Size 16.5 x 22). The setting is the historical moment of defeat for the Great Spanish Armada (130 ships) sent by the King of Spain to the shores of Britain to settle, once and for all, the claims of the English to naval supremacy. It is August 8, 1588, the English Channel, North Atlantic, and we can imagine what it was like onboard the ship of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s ‘chief privateer’ Francis Drake. Before the final battle off the coast of England, many old sea dogs have gathered here to confer together.    Having listened to what other captains had to say, the pirate in charge would take over exclaiming:“I’ve heard you out, now it’s my turn, and I say the fight is on tomorrow!” And he banged his fist on the table, fingers still gripping the favorite pipe, hand assuming its shape. At that moment, each of them remembered the women they left behind at home in England.

Kush explains, “I steadfastly believe that what I do is not only a style of painting but also something universal and profoundly human. In the age of computer science and aspirations of artificial intellect, metaphor remains inaccessible to the machine. The symbols in my art are related to world mythology and history and therefore are universal for most people. As an artistic method, my goal is to reveal the hidden connections between the things that seem to stand far apart from each other, the deeper the gap between them, the connection becomes more spectacular.”

Kush Fine Art Galleries are located in Las Vegas, NV, Maui HI, and Laguna Beach, CA. They offer a unique and exquisite collection of Paintings, Jewelry, and Sculptures, all created by the same artist. The visit to the gallery will be the highlight of your trip. Colorful Harbors

Brightly colored, intimate harbor scenes adorn the walls of The Redfern Gallery.  A newly discovered work by George Brandriff titled, “Newport Harbor”, was painted nearly 100 years ago. These harbor scenes are exquisitely painted with bold shapes and colors that represent the best of the early modernist painters.     Included in the show are works by the early California artists, George Brandriff, Donna Schuster, Elsie Palmer Payne and contemporary works by Gregory Hull.
