Quorum Gallery

oin us at Quorum Art Gallery on May 3rd from 6 pm – 9 pm for Art Walk and meet our featured artist of the month, Emilee Reed.

Emilee Reed – Watercolors & More

“I paint whatever I see that is striking…something that takes my breath away,” explains Emilee.  While Emilee admires watercolor pieces done in soft, light washes, she goes for “the gusto” and drama of bold, colorful artwork.  Due to the vivid colors, many who view her work at first think the medium may be acrylic….and now she dabbles with acrylics as well.

Emilee accepts custom orders, and also specializes in personal paintings for her clients.  These pieces are called “Favorite Things”.  The piece is composed of the recipient’s….favorite things.

Retired after over 30 years with the Walt Disney Co., Emilee lives and paints in Anaheim, California.  She is a published artist, a Board Member, and a Juried Exhibitor at Laguna Art-A-Fair in Laguna Beach, a Juror, an Art Demonstrator and conducts Watercolor workshops and lessons in her Anaheim studio.

Emilee is a member of Watercolor West, Spark OC, and Orange County Fine Arts Association.  Emilee’s artwork is available at the Quorum Gallery and the Watercolor Gallery, both located in Laguna Beach, CA.

Impressionism vs. Realism – A Group Exhibition
May 3rd – May 31st, 2018
Artist Reception: Thursday, May 3rd, 6:30pm to 9:30pm

Impressionist painters such as Renoir and Monet sought to evoke subjective and sensory impressions with their work, rather than simply re-creating an objective reality.

Realists, on the other hand, seek to represent their subject in a lifelike manner, such as it is subjectively seen to the eye.

Our exhibition this month compares and contrasts the styles of impressionism and realism. The pieces we have chosen will showcase the unique aspects and beauty of both movements.

Artists for this show include: Rush Allen, Badreyah Almuqhawi, Matej Anzin, Sarah Bentley, Lillian Blouin, Judith Campanaro, Anne Christian, Betina Finnk, Leslie Franklin, Linda Garcia-Dahle, Austin Gundy, Alex Keto, Carl Knutson, Louise Laffaille, Sherry Marger, Gary Mathis, Joan Meade, Harold Naideau, Naomi Oken, Angela Pittenger, Jonathan Ralston, Shaun Roberts, Tara Rule, Julia Running, Maalik Scott, Robert Selby, Jennifer Shada, Arena Shawn, Barbra Simpson, Sherry Spencer, Tanya Sue Todd, and Evelyn Zhang.

Ning Zhou Gallery

Ning Zhou Gallery will present Ning Zhou’s latest release, “Water Charm – Staccato”, during Art Walk on May 3rd.
The images of water reflections by art photography master, Ning Zhou, are like mirrors into our souls. It is almost as though the artist manipulates nature to provide perfect abstractions or, to put it more literally, visual poetry.
In his compelling new release, “Water Charm – Staccato”, ripples of amber and black in the deep blue water break down into barely connected lines and fractal designs to create a larger abstraction which seems to reach out to the viewer saying “Here I am. Make of me what you will.”
