Our legacy –

The art season in Laguna Beach flourishes year round with First Thursdays Art Walk. This educational monthly art event, held on the first Thursday of every month from 6 – 9 pm, celebrates the diverse cultural art scene of Laguna Beach and is free to the public. First Thursdays Art Walk is funded by member galleries, local art institutions, lodging establishments, and the City of Laguna Beach.

First Thursdays Art Walk was founded as an independent, community-serving, non-profit with the mission to promote Laguna Beach as a leading destination and community of fine art galleries. The organization is committed to supporting local artists and galleries. As well as serving the community by cultivating an appreciation for the arts.

Since its founding, FTAW member galleries, arts organizations, sponsors, and grantors create a unique fine arts experience for the Laguna Beach community and cultural visitors and provide local lodging establishments with a monthly art event to offer their guests.

Our mission –

First Thursdays Art Walk’s mission is to promote art education and appreciation in Laguna Beach, the leading year-round destination and community of fine art galleries.

We are a 501-c(3) non-profit organization committed to supporting our member galleries; serving the community by cultivating an appreciation for the arts, and providing a high-quality educational experience for art students through the annual Mentoring Program with Laguna College of Art + Design.

Our History –

Since 1998, First Thursdays Art Walk member galleries and sponsors have benefited from a cooperative effort in providing trolley service during First Thursdays Art Walk; by advertising in local and national media; and creating a unique cultural experience for all First Thursdays Art Walk participants.

 FAQs

  • First Thursdays Art Walk is FREE to the public. Though some galleries may host specific events that they charge a ticket fee for, First Thursdays Art Walk is always free to the public.

  • Many of our participating galleries serve charcuterie-style food and wine during the Art Walk.

    For food, each patron is responsible for their own food allergies and preferences. If you have a serious food allergy, please notify someone at the gallery so they can further assist you.

    Wine is often free to patrons in our participating galleries. Patrons must be 21+ and have an ID present to enjoy this part of our event.

  • Art Walk is located up and down PCH spanning from Diamond St to Myrtle. Please click our ‘Directory’ page for more information on our participating galleries. Be sure to check out our galleries page to get a taste of the wide variety of art showcased at our event.

Trolleys

We provide extended FREE trolley rides around the area for all of our Art Walk visitors.

Laguna Beach also has free public trollies that run year-round! The schedule varies depending on the season.
