Folklore Studio is a contemporary fine art gallery and community space in Laguna Beach, California. We aim to tell the stories of artists who create from a place of deep connection with the earth, using natural materials and practices that are ancient and reverent.
Folklore Studio is a fine art outpost of Folklore, a lifestyle shop and place for gathering in Santa Fe, New Mexico (est. in 2019).
Kelly Dye is a curator, designer, traveller, and artist, born and raised in California. She's worked in the branding and design industry since 2010.
After graduating from Furman University and Parsons The New School for Design, she specialized in innovation and trend forecasting for beauty and fashion clients in New York City for almost a decade before shifting her focus to sustainable design, and continuing her education at The Fashion Institute of Technology. Her first business, Folklore, opened in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2019. Folklore's curation of consciously sourced goods, emphasizing local, small/independent designers, female makers, and ethical practices, has been featured in Vogue and regional publications.
Kelly currently splits her time between Laguna Beach, California and Santa Fe, New Mexico. She loves to travel to India, South East Asia, and Mexico. Kelly also writes poetry, designs interiors, practices feng shui, and dives deeply into spiritual/healing practices from a range of traditions.
